I saw a Facebook post recently which suggested that you should trust in yourself and your inborn knowledge totally and stay away from teachers and coaches who are only going to force upon you their own view of the subject in question. In a way, this is correct but only if the student is acting as a photocopier and does not analyze and often ask what they are being taught. And it is correct that some teachers do not explain themselves clearly or respond healthy to their views being questioned. Education is not fair about absorbing knowledge. It’s about understanding the subject better and better over time and about being capable to rethink your views as more knowledge comes to light. The entire purpose of maximum teaching is to pass on solid earned knowledge in an easier format. We do not question our students to reinvent the wheel. We say here is a wheel and these are the ways in which we can use it, but we do not hand them the keys to a Ferrari and say Here are four wheels go for your life. I try to teach people to ride horses better. People are bipeds they think and act like bipeds. Horses are quadrupeds they think and act like quadrupeds. Riders need to rewire their brains so that they can present instructions which make sense to a horse. People are not very body mindful and have difficulty controlling parts of their bodies independently which is necessary for communication with their horse who is very body aware. Riders need to improve their ability to feel and study so that they can both talk to and listen to their horse. This is the aptitude which so called horse whisperers use but it is available to anyone who wants to put in the time and effort. People tend to be self critical rather than analytical. Self analysis is the road to improvement. Students who don’t interrogate any questions they have, or who say that they understand because they don’t want to appear stupid are making the subject more firm for both themselves and their teacher. To disregard previously accumulated knowledge is foolish but to absorb it without thought or questioning is probably madness! Feel release to contribute!.
