Iko kitesurfing & kiteboarding lessons in brisbane opening in august 2007, or kpq, kitepower australia queensland, is the newest addition to the kitepower chain. The move allowed the shop to expand into other watersports like stand-up paddling and wakeboarding, as well as beachwear and toys. Alongside rhys in the kite school is instructor dave atkinson, who�??s just started teaching but has been kiting for a couple of years now. In september 2011, kpq moved a few blocks down the road to a newly refurbished shopfront. Working with jon at kpq is rhys porter, who has been teaching kitesurfing for more than 6 years. Jon started flying kites 14 years ago when his brother and sister, and can be found in the buggy during winter, bought his first stunt kite, graeme and nicola, on the water in summer and playing with one- and two-line kites all year round. Owner jon ashmore managed the sydney store for two years prior to opening kpq in the northern suburbs of brisbane. Across the road from the store is pelican park and bells beach, which are the perfect locations for flying kites and practising all kinds of watersports.
